Frequently Asked Questions
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a technique in which specific points on the body are stimulated by inserting thin needles through the skin. It is one of the oldest medical practices in the world spanning at least 2,000 years. It treats the symptoms of the illness as well as prevents the problem from happening again in the future by strengthening the body’s immune system and organ function.
Is Acupuncture painful?
Patients report different feelings associated with acupuncture, but most feel very minimal pain when the needle is inserted. The actual feeling of the needle going in feels like a mosquito bite type pinch if it is felt at all.
Can Acupuncture harm me?
Acupuncture is a very safe medical practice. Just like any other form of medicine it can be harmful if done by an improperly trained or neglectful practitioner. Even then, those cases are very rare.
Is there a certain age in which Acupuncture can be done?
Acupuncture can treat people of all ages, from newborns to the elderly!
What can Acupuncture treat?
The better question is what can Acupuncture not treat! Acupuncture treats an extremely wide range of conditions and is not limited to just physical issues such as back pain or damaged bone or muscles. The most common issues patients typically come in to have treated are: Physical pain (broken bones, pulled/strained/torn muscles, headaches, etc.), Emotional issues (Stress, Anxiety/Depression, Mental issues), OB/GYN (menstrual problems, pregnancy, fertility, menopause, etc.), and Weight Loss. Feel free to contact me and ask what else can be treated!
What can Acupuncture not treat?
Acupuncture cannot treat anything that is a 911 situation such as someone having a Heart Attack, Seizure, or has DVT. Stroke patients must wait to be cleared by the hospital and/or doctor before Acupuncture can be done. Acupuncture cannot treat Bedbugs, Chiggers, Scabies, Parasites, and issues due to aging such as hearing loss.
